“Internet famous in your own sphere of influence” is a real phenomenon. It happens regularly when you commit to video in your sales communication.
I was walking through an event center during a RE/MAX conference in Toronto when a gentleman recognized me from the videos I send and stopped me to share a story.
The story he shared: $150,000 in sales commission from 2 short videos.
Based in Vaughn, Ontario, RE/MAX real estate agent Mario Daniel Sconza signed up with BombBomb a couple summers ago. He’s recorded nearly 300 videos and sent nearly 500 emails – nearly every one of them one-to-one.
In that time, he’s also received dozens of video email newsletters from me and seen dozens of my blog posts.
Although we’d never met or even corresponded directly, Mario recognized me immediately and greeted me like a friend. This type of opportunity is a direct consequence of propinquity built through through video communication.
We chatted for about 10 or 15 minutes, during which time he explained his use of and success with his BombBomb account.
A couple days later, he also shared the story with me in this video …
$150,000 in Sales Commissions from 2 Short Videos
“I wanted to share with you some of the success we’ve been having with BombBomb, leveraging the platform and the system,” Mario explains.
He’s generating hundreds of leads each month with Commissions Inc, a software company with which we’re integrated.
Mario tries to make the time to reach out to each person on a one-to-one basis, but also has “canned” or “evergreen” videos to use when he can’t.
Two of the people to whom he sent personal videos chose him over competitors to help them sell and purchase properties.
He was on both sides of a $1,450,000 transaction and on one side of three other transactions ranging from $1,100,000 to $1,380,000.
“Our commissions from that ranged in the neighborhood of $150,000 … just from those two videos.”
Video Connects, Differentiates, and Converts
As online marketing expert and BombBomb customer, friend, and advocate Mike Lyon recently explained here in our blog, video connects people to you, differentiates you from competitors, and converts leads more effectively. And that’s what Mario experienced here.
“When I asked both of those clients after we concluded our dealings, ‘What was it that caused you to do business with us over all those other opportunities you have available to you?’, they both – right away, without hesitation – stated ‘You sent (me) a video and no one ever did that,’” Mario reports.
“I’m very grateful for the opportunity,” Mario concludes. “We do leverage (BombBomb) in our business every single day. It’s definitely done wonders for us.”
Thank you, Mario! We’re grateful for people who make BombBomb part of how they connect and communicate with people to win sales opportunities and to earn sales commissions like these every single day.
Basic Strategy to Produce More Sales Commission
So, what’s Mario sending by video email?
His primary strategy is based in one value add. When people register on his Commissions Inc website, he follows up with a video email to say thank you, put a face with the name, offer support directly, and open up a conversation.
The additional value he offers is access to including expired listings, for sale by owner listings, foreclosed properties, builder inventory, and other property types that are more difficult to find online.
He offers them as part of a “priority notification system” that’s free and comes with no obligation to purchase.
With the two customers in his success story, he opened up the conversation with one-to-one videos. But Mario’s also got pre-recorded videos available in his BombBomb library to use over and over as needed.

Simple Design
Notice how simple and attractive this email design is. Clean and colorful. Name, brand, contact information, and video introduction.
When Mario sends that video email, his recipient sees him as an animated preview (example at the bottom of this post).
As his recipients, open his emails, click his links, and play his videos, we track all that behavior report it back to Mario for more efficient and effective follow up.
Simple Video
Also notice how simple Mario’s videos are. They’re laptop webcam videos from his desk.
We’ve seen lead follow up with an iPhone from the airport tarmac (see it) and similar sales commissions from similar webcam videos (see it).
The frame of reference and point of comparison for this type of video communication isn’t a tv commercial, film trailer, or homepage video. Instead, it’s the plain, typed-out, and faceless text communication we often rely on to support our sales efforts.
These types of videos are more authentic and more personal. And they’re often better received.

But I Don’t Have That Sales Commission Potential …
The $150,000 in sales commission from these two lead conversions paid for his BombBomb account for the next 300 years. But Mario doesn’t convert every single lead and not every one of his transactions is over $1,000,000.
What if it was only $15,000? Or $1,500? Would you record a 30 second or 1 minute video to make that happen more often?
A few weeks ago, we shared the story of Kinny Landrum earning sales commission to cover his BombBomb account for more than a year with two vehicle sales at a Toyota dealership.
The fact of the matter is that you’re investing time to connect with and convert leads. Most of the emails you’re sending and voicemails you’re leaving are oriented toward a direct, in person connection. You’re trying to meet face to face, because that’s where you’re best as a sales professional.
One key opportunity that video provides is that it gets you face to face earlier and more often in the process. It helps you build familiarity, rapport, and trust faster and accelerates your sales cycle in this way.
Right now, video communication itself is a differentiator. Ultimately, though, you are your own best differentiator.
Video works because video delivers you.
So no matter your sales price or sales commission, video helps you reach your sales goals more efficiently.
And doing it with BombBomb makes it even faster. Record and send in one pass, rather than through multiple steps. Send pre-recorded videos, as Mario sometimes does.
BombBomb also makes it more effective. Know exactly when people open, click, and play. Send in a branded design, rather than having your plays occur out in YouTube, where your competitors’ videos can be served up next. Integrate with other software systems you’re using.
